Period was running 9 days late cycle 42

I had some slight brownish last night wen toilet as I was feeling like my period was starting wen I wiped I had the red colour there so though my period is starting now put pad on iv got up this morning and iv got nothing on it wen I wiped there was nothing there again no bloomed wat is going on can a period only last a day I don’t think this is normal for me I usually get it and it’s 5.7 days long I’m late on my cycle and to have a 1 day bleed and now nothing what is going on?? I’m so stressed help?? Dr just keep telling me these things can happen and will know more once iv had my scan but iv lit not had a full bleed wasn’t even like a period it was a bit of brown discharge wen wiping then bit of red next time I went toilet now nothing again
