So my mom wants to be called grandma and I’m Native American I don’t care what she wants to be called I’m happy either way. My husbands dad is German so he wants to be called Opa. The problem is my husbands mom. She isn’t German but will not budge for any other name but oma. My husband don’t like it, personally I don’t care what she’s called but my husband is upset because he called his grandma oma and she was German. He wants there to be a connection. Anyway his mom threw a hissy fit tonight and has my husband in tears because this is his first baby and she isn’t having it any other way. I told my husband it’s okay let’s not stress about it. I also said this is the only say she has because it’s her name, anything’s else it’s our baby and we’re not budging. I hate to see him upset, his oma passed away with cancer and he associates his German grandma with the word.
