I constantly repeat the same thing to my husband, my mil, my parents, EVERYONE. I. Do. Not. Want. My. Toddler. Forward. Facing. Until. She. Maxes. Out. SIMPLE. They always try to push and I throw out a “I’d rather her have broken legs than to be dead.” Shuts them up quick but they bring it up multiple times afterwards still.

I started working back in November. Before I was just working weekends but now I’ve added on mondays since my mil doesn’t work and said she could watch her. Today I worked 6am-2pm so I had my mother drop my daughter off at my mil’s since I didn’t want to wake her early. I installed the car seat in my mother’s car and let her know to leave it with my mil so it’s there when I pick her up after work. I get to my mil’s and she let me know that the car seat was in her car as her and my daughter went on a shopping trip. I don’t mind that. If anything, I’m happy my daughter and her are spending time outside of the home. But when I went to retrieve the car seat, not only was my daughter’s car seat forward facing, the correct latches/tether weren’t being used for forward facing. Instead it was the seatbelt that was being used to keep the car seat strapped in with one strap over the lap and the other behind the car seat. Now, I’m glad nothing happened and they were able to go and comeback safely. But I’m still very upset. I don’t mean to sound dramatic but I feel like my daughter’s life was put at risk. If she didn’t know how to properly install a car seat, I don’t know why she not only didn’t ask us but she decided to wing it and hope for the best ?? I love my job but this makes me not want to work anymore since it seems no one respects the rule and precautions I set FOR MY CHILD. Although my husband wants us to FF, he knows that it’s best that we RF for as long as possible. Why is this such a difficult concept for people ??
