Has anyone had nitrofurantoin for UTI?

I was prescribed this yesterday for my UTI. I haven’t had one in YEARS. But I was reading the side effects of the antibiotic and… wow! There are so many. I’ve taken two so far and have strong belly pain and it’s already turned my urine yellow/orange. Anyone use it for uti before and been fine?

I had the rare side effect of pancreatitis 🙃 so definitely watch and listen to your body. I’d taken it a few times before with no issue. I agree with making sure you’re drinking plenty of water and eating before/with taking it!

Macrobid is typical for UTI’s. It’s normal for your urine to change color. Drink loads of water and eat before taking if it hurts your stomach. Follow up with probiotics. 
It’s also not nearly as bad as some of the other commonly prescribed UTI antibiotics.

For uti, i take d mannose. It's incredible stuff without.the.side effects. I get bad yeast infections with the antibiotics.

I highly recommend eating something before taking it. It'll help you not feel sick. Gas X helped me with the stomach pains. And yes it can turn your urine a dark yellow color. Nothing to be worried about. Make sure to drink as much water as you can. Water helps filter the bacteria out of your urinary tract which helps you heal faster. Get some extra strength Azo for the uti pain. It's the only thing that helped me. It will numb the urinary tract so you don't have pain. I hope you feel better soon! UTIs are the worst!
