Newborn hates the swaddle

My 4 day old baby boy absolutely hates being swaddled. He did ok with it in the hospital but he always had his hands near his chest or face in the womb. Hubs and I are haggard - he wouldn’t sleep last night because whenever we swaddled him he’d Houdini out of it and we’d have to reswaddle. We tried Velcro and arms only as well as Muslin swaddles - he hates them all.

Currently have him in his bassinet - no swaddle and he’s sleeping perfectly. But his anxious mama is worried about his long new nails near his face and risk of SIDS. Would love some advice from others who’s babies are anti swaddle. Thinking about buying some weighted sleep sacks with free arms maybe..
