My May baby decided to be an April baby!

Kay • Mama of 1 [4 years in the making]💙 👼🏽 👼🏽[IVF Warrior]

My baby boy decided he wanted to make an early arrival to the world! He was due May 14th, so I had my last day of work scheduled for April 29th to give me a few weeks before he comes to just rest! Lol little did I know he had other plans. On Friday the 28th, I woke at 3:00am not feeling babe too much so drank some juice to get him to move and didn’t go back to sleep. Went to work around 7am then right at the end of my shift at work my water broke! So at 2:00pm I got in my car and called labour and delivery who said take my time but come in as soon as I was able. So I went home and showered and waited for my husband to meet me there and grabbed our bags and off we went! By the time we left my contractions where 9 min apart. At around 6:00pm they were at 5 minutes apart but somewhat irregular. By 7:00pm they were all over the place, so finally at 10:00pm they put me on oxytocin, which finally had me contracting regularly. By 12:00am my contractions were getting pretty bad and closer together so I got my epidural and slept for about an hour before I woke up to feeling a lot of pressure, so I asked for them to up the epidural strength. They gave me another dose but within about a half hour I was complaining the pressure felt so bad, they checked me and I was fully effaced and 6cm dilated (2:00am). Pain got so bad next 45 min they checked me again and I was at 9cm and my body already starting to push him out. They got me to side labour for the next few min as they called the OB as I still have a bit of my cervix covering the one side but I knew he was coming fast. By 3:00am the OB got there I was fully dilated and I pushed for 25 min before he was out!

He came out perfect! And was a natural on the boob!

After the birth we noticed some bruising on his face, and his appetite decreased slightly. Bilirubin test came back higher than moderate so they let us go home after 24 hours but we had to come back that night to double check his levels. Well, we are now admitted for some light therapy for jaundice, after thinking we would be happy and start to settle at home. Feeling a little emotional seeing my baby in a box, but he is a strong little man and I know he will be fine! I just can’t believe all of this happened within the last 72 hours!

Hoping we are discharged again soon with a happy and hungry little man!💙 but I am so thrilled he is finally here.
