Soft cups

I bought some for the first time today, since I couldn't bare to enter the new year worrying about changing my tampon every few hours. But I have a IUD in is that safe to have with the softcup? I'm also not sure if I am inserting it in correctly. I have watched numerous videos so far. Help!
