Looking for advice/insight (sleep training)

Kayla

Sleep training has never worked for my 9 month old.

We used her bassinet for a couple months after she was born but even that ended up going out the window.

We both sleep together on the couch when she naps (I end up napping too, since I’m still exhausted through the day) and she sleeps next to me at night.

Whenever she fell asleep and was out for more than 10 minutes I would transition her either next to me on the couch or in her evening sleep spot and she would immediately wake up and be wide awake, never wanting to go back to sleep.

The cry it out method and other methods have been tried to no avail.

My husband wants me to sleep train her but it’s not working. He thinks she is going to end up always being “codependent” if I keep letting her sleep this way.

I’ve tried for the last week and have ended up getting way less sleep myself and I’m irritable all the time right now because of it.

I just want to keep going how she and I have been but I also want her to develop normally.

Do I have anything to worry about? Will sleeping like this really make her codependent for the rest of her young life? Will she eventually learn to sleep without me on her own?

I don’t know what to do. Help.
