CIO Method for 14 month old

Amber

Needing some advice from mommas who bed shared with their kid but eventually trained their kid to sleep in crib. Specifically if anyone did the CIO method.

*Background story* My son had slept in his crib till he was 9 months old. This is when he started teething and he was inconsolable at night so I moved him into the bed with me. He is now 14 months old and is still in my bed. (Let me preference this by saying we having two rooms. 1 is where my 1st son sleeps and 1 is where my late April baby sleeps. My boyfriend and I switch back in forth every 3ish hours between the two rooms so we can both feed baby at night.) Reasons why I want to move my son back to his crib:

1. We bed share on a floor bed with my 14 month old and since he’s recently started crawling he tries to crawl off the bed which makes me nervous (even though it’s not a far fall).

2. We live with my parents and he sometimes will hit his head off the wall when he is rolling and my moms room is right on the other side of the wall and the bangs wake her up.

3. I would prefer for him to be contained in something at night just in case my boyfriend and I need to tend to the new baby together or something

*We’ve tried the Ferber method with check ins in the past and he did not do good with the check ins*

So that is why I want to try the CIO method to see how he’d do with it. My momma heart aches when he cries and I know this will be so hard for me. So any tips are appreciated.

Also, how do you handle naps then? Do you wait until nighttime sleep in crib is good before you try and do their naps in crib?
