Getting my 20 week scan late, will it still show any abnormalities etc?

Hi,
I am working away and arrive back and they said it’s the very last day they can do the 20 week scan I’m worried because they told me it’s time sensitive to show everything but I had a private scan recently and I was showing further along in my pregnancy.. so will it make a difference to the anotomy scan? I will be 22 weeks?

Sorry hun, last thing I want is scare you but I was in the same situation last year. I was with lots of work meetings and my husband the same. When I called the midwife to change to a 21 weeks they advised me to go to my 20 scan date because it very improtant appt. I did a scan at 17 weeks privately and everything was fine, baby was moving a lot so I thought, why I can't go later in another day, baby was fine . Thanks I didn't change the date and I went. My son was very poorly and he had a major heart abnormality in his heart that couldn't survive labour/ after labour. I saldy I had not option that terminate the pregnancy and let him go at 21 weeks. 20 weeks scan are HIGH important and you should put this as priority before work. Sorry, I don't want to scare you with my history, just advice you that put your baby's priority before work and go to your 20 scan date. All the best sweetheart x

Can you have the scan before you go away at all? I would try and get it done before hand.

It isn’t ideal to leave it later as everything is much harder to see and measurements etc could be a lot different. With my first they couldn’t get all the measurements and they were adamant I had to come back within 5 days to get the missing measurements as it would be too late otherwise. I’m sorry but I’d tell work I have to come back a few days earlier for an appointment… it’s quite an important one. I’d put baby over work every day.
