When did you ladies go on maternity leave?

Sway

I’m a third time mom I feel like with my first two I worked almost up until and actually took off maybe 2 weeks before my actual due date. That was about 5 and 4 years ago lol so I’m a little hesitant… my first kid was 5 days early and my second came 9 days before my due date.

My last appointment was on the 2nd (June) and I was told she’s head down which I figured due to the movement and pressure I had going on in my pelvis. This time around I’m excited because I have not the best job but better than before with good benefits. I have 12 week leave and a possible extra 6 weeks on top of that.

I just wanted a little advice or insight on when you ladies stopped working. I’m currently 32 and still pushing but I don’t want to push it to far, thanks in advance mommas 🫶🏾

P.S. My due date is July 31st

Update last baby I made till 38w6d on my feet because of planned csection. Otherwise I would have went longer. Do what's best for you!

Same. I worked till 40+3 with my first and had her at 41+3. I was mad I wasted a week of maternity leave but my BP was high and I was SWOLLEN. I could’ve worked until labor though. 2nd I worked until 39+6 and had her 40+1. I was induced on my due date and was in labor for over 24 hours.

I didn’t go on maternity until 39 weeks. I was lucky because the appointment I started my leave on was the day I was pulled in for an emergency induction. I would say go as long as you and your doctor feel is safe!

Yes thanks for this I feel like I most definitely should stay active and go for as long as I can. Plus I want to be home with my baby for as long as I can lol it’s just a blessing I work 32hr-40hrs a week and mostly on my feet standing for hours. I feel blessed my doctor told me I’m doing well and nothing is swollen my blood pressure’s good so I’ll try to listen to my body. ❤️

I didn’t start maternity leave until I went into labor with either of my first two and will do the same with my current pregnancy. My first I went into labor on a Sunday night at 40+4 so that Friday before ended up being my last day, and my second I went into labor on a Friday night so that day had ended up being my last day before leave.

Wow you’re a trooper!! It’s like I want to go up until but I’m just on my feet so long my lower back pain has been pretty extreme.

With my first, I couldn’t take being on my feet all day, I was a pharmacy tech and left at 36-38 weeks. I didn’t go into labor until 40 weeks. With my second I worked until 38 weeks and my boss basically pressured me into taking maternity leave early, and I was a week late again. This time around, I’ll see how it goes. I’m planning on working until I go into labor.

It's great that you have a job with good benefits and a long maternity leave. It's important to listen to your body and take care of yourself during pregnancy. It's recommended to stop working at least a few weeks before your due date to give yourself time to rest and prepare for the baby's arrival. However, every pregnancy is different, and it's ultimately up to you to decide when to stop working. If you're feeling tired or uncomfortable, it may be a good idea to talk to your employer about taking some time off before your due date.
