depressed boyfriend :/

my boyfriend has been rather depressed the past few weeks, and its really worrying me. he never knows why hes upset and that makes it really hard for me to help, and i'm not good with words in the first place so its even more difficult! i want him to be my happy goofball again, do you guys have any advice?
