Explain the effects of aging on a woman's fertility and how it impacts her chances of conception.

So generally speaking the ACOG (association of obstetrics and gynecology) say 35 and up is considered advanced maternal age. That 35 is the time egg quality and quantity and regularity of ovulation can start to change. My OB told me when I was 31 and pregnant and again this time I’m 34 but turn 35 in Sept and I’m not due until Dec, that the guidelines really need to be reevaluated and updated. Their group delivers babies to Women who are as old as late 40s that conceived naturally, so no IVF, no IUI, no frozen eggs, no donor sperm etc… but they also have patients as young as early 20s struggling with infertility. She also said these days more women are choosing to wait so most of the moms they get are 28-38. I think it’s really an individual thing so while the guidelines say 35 you could continue to ovulate normally and with good quality eggs until 45 (just a random number I’m throwing out) If this wasn’t going to be my last child I’d personally get an ultrasound done of my ovaries and find out my egg quality. That can give you a better idea of when you should aim to conceive by. And remember if you aren’t ready by the time they recommend you can always freeze your eggs until you are ready. Science is truly amazing 🤩
