Birth control- effective IMMEDIATELY?

I was wondering if birth control pills when you take them on the first day of your period, can already make the period you’re having lighter and shorter or if it only works a month later during your next period. It says with my brand that the pill protects you from pregnancy if you take it on the first day of your period- but nothing about your period itself

It’s possible for them, when taken on the first day of your period, to make your period shorter and lighter. Not a guarantee though. I had the opposite effect 😅 Longer but even flow. There’s no clean cut answer — it’s all it depends.

If it’s a combo pill AND you start it within the first 5 days of your period starting then yes, it is effective immediately.
