Grandma mad about something 5mnths AWAY

Yesterday I went to my mom's house. They threw me a small surprise baby shower. It was very thoughtful and sweet. Very close family were invited. Well afterwards we were talking about upcoming events for the remainder of the year. My grandmother brought up she wanted to go out of town for Christmas up north but my mother knows it's going to be too much money and she wants to be here for my baby's first Christmas. So my mother said she wouldn't mind someone else hosting because she host every year. Understandable. I said that I don't mind hosting. I've hosted once before. I said the only thing I'd be concerned about is my furniture getting messed. I just got new living room furniture,my boys know not to eat on them and already know the table is where we eat snacks etc. Well my brothers kids aren't taught that way and will and have made messes at my mother's house because they allow them too and don't tell them anything. Plus I like to decorate and again my kids know not to touch decorations especially breakables I have out on display but my brother's kids just aren't taught that way. So that's my concern. Which valid because that's my home and money. So my grandmother got all angry and yelled "no one wants to host it! Let's just go to Chicago!" And my mom tells her that's not too far away and she needs something called money for plane tickets etc. I thought it was kind of ridiculous getting angry over an event still months away. Plus I never said I wouldn't mind hosting again I just said I don't want things me and my husband spend our hard earned money on being wrecked because some parents don't know how to teach their kids better or even say to them "hey maybe don't mess that up".
