We fell in love with the name quickly. But of course we made the mistake of telling family.
It’s also a gender neutral name, and we don’t like that it might sound feminine to others.

I’m from Hawai’i and it’s both a boy and a girl name, but I actually know more boys with that name. Just keep in mind though that it’s pronounced ka-luh-nee, not ka-law-nee. Many people pronounce lani as law-nee but it’s more of a u sound.
