Choosing OBGYN
I found out I'm pregnant last week and don't have an OBGYN yet. I have my annual exam with my primary doctor next week and she's going to refer me to an OBGYN. My primary dr is in my home town and I live an hour away now. My husband works at a hospital in our home town and he says they have a great women's health/maternity department, so he's suggesting I go there. He works a crazy schedule, so going there would make sense so he's more likely to be able to go to my appointments (if he's working, he'll be able to step away from work for a few to be at my appointment). But am I supposed to go to an OBGYN where I plan to deliver? Based on how he talks about it, I would like to deliver there, but being an hour away, that may not work out. So is it fine to go to an OBGYN at the hospital he works at and then deliver at a hospital near where we live? Or should I be going to an OBGYN where we live and where I will likely be delivering?
