Miscarriage Shaming
I can't believe what I'm seeing. I know a lot of first time moms are scared. And I know as they realize that miscarriage actually happens it increases their anxiety. But in my due date group there are constant posts about asking people to stop discussing their previous pregnancy loss or current miscarriage. Lots of "I wish they would talk about it somewhere else". It comes very close to shaming women for discussing their histories. I understand that it makes them uncomfortable, but I'm so sick of miscarriage being a secret club or a taboo subject. It's such a lonely thing to go through, especially early on when you haven't gone public about your pregnancy yet. I'm so glad the Internet exists and women have a place to talk about it and heal.
I guess I'm just venting. I don't know. I try to speak up and help people understand as gently as I can. But I'm getting close to saying something rude to someone. Ughh.
