Does anyone know if you need to wash new baby clothes before baby wears them, if you google it, it says yes due to chemicals when they are being manufactured. Iv spoke to my mum and gran and they said no as it takes the look and colour out new clothes so in unsure.

Even if it were to take the color out (which it will do the first wash no matter before or after baby), not having chemicals or germs on the clothes is much better. The clothes will be fine, washing them is best

Definitely wash them! I washed all of mine and the color never faded. Either way, I'd take slightly faded clothes over a rash any day.

Yes! All clothing is sprayed with anti insect spray to keep bugs off then during transportation to the U.S. You have to remember that most clothing is made in China, Cambodia and India so they have a long and not so clean way to travel. The chemicals that they spray on the clothing can cause a bad rash on sensitive baby skin. Always wash the clothes with a "Free and Clear" type of detergent. Tide makes a good one and it's cheaper than the "baby detergent" that they sell.

Yes you should... think about all of the people walking around in stores anf touching or coughing on clothes, so many people don't wash their hands after using the rest room in public but youch everything...

I have been washing all clothes, bedding, even the fabric coverings on the Mamaroo. Better to put fresh, clean clothes on my new baby! :-) Everything purchased new still looks awesome and new.

It even says on most tags of clothes to wash before use. I've begun washing some of my baby's clothes and they all look new still. You don't know where those clothes have been or who has touched them, I wouldn't risk that on baby's sensitive skin.

I always did, and still do with some of my own clothes (underwear). You just never know what could be on the clothing.
