Ultrasound???

Sooo.. I had my 10 week+ 2 day appointment today, and they didn’t give me an ultrasound or check the heartbeat?? When I was 8 weeks they did an ultrasound, do they not check the heartbeat for every appointment? :( the appointment today was for a blood sample to see the gender and to check for possible genetic problems.

They don't do an ultrasound at every appointment, no, and unless something abnormal occurs your next ultrasound most likely won't be until you're 18-20 weeks along.

Did you actually see your OB today, I did you just go to the lab? 
If you saw your OB then it’s very strange they didn’t check your baby’s heart rate. You definitely shouldn’t expect an ultrasound at every appointment, but checking the heart rate is and should be normal practice at every regular appointment. If the Doppler doesn’t work for some reason then your dr should get a handheld ultrasound machine to check the heartbeat that way. 
If this happens again all you need to do is ask.

I had an ultrasound at my first appointment. I was 6+1. Yesterday I had my 10 week appointment and didn’t get an ultrasound. However, doctor did check for heartbeat. I think they usually do at every appointment

Depends on your age and risk status. If you’re normal risk then you may only get them at 12ish and 20 wks. I’m over 35 and conceived via IVF which is considered high risk so I have monthly ultrasounds.  I’ve never had anyone decline to do an ultrasound when I asked for it, so also don’t be afraid to ask!
