Nervous about first pap. Help?

So, I lost my virginity to my SO when I was 23. Yes 23 and damn proud of it. And my doctor said I didn't need one until I became sexually active since I had all my HPV shots and that cervical or uterine or ovarian cancer doesn't run in my family. But now that I've been sexually active im due for one. And scared. Does it hurt? Is it painful?

I'm in the same boat! I've been with my SO for over 5 years and been in bc. My doctor has always told me I won't need till I'm 21. Well i turned 21 in Novemeber and finally scheduled to have mine done on Tuesday. I'm so nervous!!!

It's a little uncomfortable, but it's virtually painless. They take this mechanism that will open you up a little so they can swab you- and then you're done. It's a little pinch.
