Would you be upset if your MIL jumped in, picked up your daughter, and blew her candles out? I was trying to get my phone out for my friend to record while everyone sung happy birthday & before I could even get her my MIL got her. but now I have a video without me in it. Second birthday but my daughters first time doing candles. 🥲

Oh I’d be livid! Than petty and said let’s sing happy birthday again because I didn’t get a video of me and MY daughter while she blows out her candles 🤭

Ik what you mean, I wasn’t ready for everyone to start singing happy birthday for my 2 year old and Before you know it my sis in law lighted the candles and they all started singing before I got to the cake. This was his 2nd birthday and that’s when I promised myself that from now on no matter what, we will sing him happy birthday as soon as he wakes up so that we have that cherished memory and enjoy the moment without other people/distractions! I know it hurts but get a small cake and even if it’s the next day get your own pics with you in them and even do a little at home photoshoot, down the line you won’t remember how it felt to not be there for the actual day photo but you’ll still have a special moment to look back on ! I’ve also decided to put less pressure on throwing big parties unless we’ve done something just us 3 (mom, dad, son) first and then celebrate with friends and extended family after
