Should I have seen a baby and heartbeat at 5 + 4?

Hi
I had a scan last week due to having pains. I was 5 weeks 4 days. They saw a sac but no baby or heartbeat. They said it's normal but where they just trying to not worry me? Is it more than likely to see one at this stage or not. I am feeling extremely down and anxious!

It's Normal i had some spotting at 5 weeks and they said there was no point doing an ultrasound because they couldn't see anything untill 6 weeks at least

Thank you. I will go in the morning. It's been bad since Thursday so I am sure a few hours won't make a difference (I hope). I am on my own and absolutely exhausted after a hectic weekend seeing my family up north. After a sleep I will be in a better way to drive. Thanks again xxx

Same exact thing  happend here hun! I went and had an ultrasound because I was spotting and I was 5w5d and she told me they saw the sac, but couldn't see baby yet..than I went in about a week later when I was 6w3d and there was baby and heartbeat!!! It's totally normal, don't worry. I know I was beyond worried but I'm now 9w1d with my second child and everything is OK so far! :) good luck sweetie

Nope. It's usually too small to see/not strong enough

I'm in the same boat!

The ultrasounds tech alarmed me bc she said she thought we should see something (at 5,4) but we could only see the GS and YS.

I have my next appt this Friday and I'll be 8 weeks, 3 days. Hoping to see our baby then!

The heart is usually developing at 5 weeks it's gonna be difficult and near impossible to find it you need to remember baby is extremely tiny at 5 weeks

Completely normal! My cycles have been totally off the wall since a miscarriage and I should have been 6+4 when I saw my doctor but he said because he saw only a sac and nothing else it's more likely 5 ish somewhere. He wasn't worried at all. Go back in two weeks to check again.

When I had an ultrasound with my daughter at 6 weeks the same thing.
