When do i test my blood?

I am so frustrated. I found out I had gestational diabetes on Sept 22nd. I was 28w2d. I was SUPPOSED to get a call from a diabetes specialist the following Monday and I've got nothing yet. I called 5 times throughout that week and left a vm nothing I got a little blood machine thing and started testing my blood, Sep 27 and I’ve been so confused when I test I’ve seen 1hr after a 1st bite of food and 2 hrs. Then I’ve seen 1 hr after a last bite of food, or 2hrs? I’ve been testing like 6 times a day because I don’t know what the hell I’m doing. It is so stressful. Please someone tell me what to do. My numbers have been fine except for when I ate a whole box of wheat thins (stress eating)🥲

Test 2 hours after the first bite. I usually start my timer 5 minutes after I start eating because I’m a slow eater. Wash your hands every time you are about to test. Don’t use alcohol because it can make your reading off. And make sure your hands are completely dry because if not then if can dilute your blood.￼ Test in the morning after you wake up before you eat anything. Then 2hrs after breakfast, lunch and dinner. I usually eat snacks after I’ve tested 2 hours after breakfast and I have a snack after I’ve tested 2 hours after lunch. I also usually test 1-2 hours after I ate something that I know was high in carbs/sugars to how my body reacts to it.

It depends on the schedule your doctor wants you to follow. Mine told me to test when I first wake up for fasting and and hour after I take the first bite of my food for breakfast lunch and dinner. I was also told I should wait two hours between snacks and meals to help control my readings. I work a crazy schedule so I am also asked to include a note for each reading which meal it for me and what I ate if my reading is over 139.

It's first thing when you wake up before any food or drink then 1 HR after first bite breakfast afternoon meal and evening meal . I had a YouTube video sent to me from my hospital with their nurse explaining so definitely correct
