So is induction the new norm?

I’m seeing everyone say they are getting induced, no one is having a natural labor… am I missing something bc my OB is not into inductions unless medically required… do y’all have medical reasons or just personal preferences????

Getting induced tomorrow due to Preeclampsia :( My due date is Oct 17th.

Not getting induced here unless there’s  a medical reason. I think it has become more common to have elective inductions but I don’t know if it’s the most common thing. 
They told me they will offer me a membrane sweep every week from now on (I’m 38 weeks), but I said I just want to let nature do its thing as much as possible, my obgyn agreed, unless there’s a medical reason. She explained that they won’t let you go past 41 weeks because about 10 days after your due date (give or take of course, like anything pregnancy related) baby starts to outgrow placental supply, and that can cause issues. She said she wouldn’t risk it, especially since my pregnancy has been healthy throughout, it would be like taking an unnecessary risk. She also added that if it comes to that, they try to induce before you hit those 10 days to have a nice window of time to work with. Hopefully that helps! It helped me understand when she explained it like that. As much as I don’t want an induction, I would rather baby be safe.

My OB won't induce without a medical need. Induced with my 1st, hypertension. Spontaneous with my 2nd and spontaneous with my 3rd.

My OB told me the only reason we would induce is if I’m overdue

They induce if you're over due. Some babies just dont want to come out lol like my previous 4

My OB said “we don’t like you to go past 41 weeks” but wouldn’t go into any specifics as to why. I didn’t ask because it was my 38 week appointment and I didn’t think I’d go past 40 weeks anyways. 
Jokes on me, I’m scheduled to be induced in 4 days and honestly I’m just ready for baby to be out so I’m not fighting it

Seems like option to induce at 39 weeks has become option across many providers. I was given option and not sure if just doctor (different practice had previous two at and didn’t give option but had them at 36.2 and 38.6)
