Wrong gender on NIPT?!

Had anyone ever been told the wrong gender on their NIPT genetic screening? After having two girls my blood work came back that this baby is a boy. I truly just can’t believe it. My gut said girl. I have an ultrasound Tuesday and I’m hoping they can sneak a look between the legs lol

The chances of the NIPT being incorrect are really quite low. It tests for the presence of Y chromosomes in your blood, so if it has detected a Y chromosome then it is very likely to be a boy.

I have had 5 kids all of which were correct with NIPT. I have 3 boys 2 girls. The luckilihood of it being wrong are low if its done at the dr office and done correctly.

I will tell you, it is more likely to be wrong given that it says boy vs if it says girl. Any male DNA can contaminate it

Unless your fetal fraction was low there’s no reason for them to detect a Y chromosome in your blood. Congratulations on your son!

There wouldn’t be a Y chromosome in your blood if you were having another girl. So it’s a boy! Congrats! Boys are SO FUN!!
