Would you ever give your boyfriend an ultimatum to get married?

I gave my boyfriend of almost 6 years an ultimatum of one year to propose. I waited long enough thinking he would propose on his own and I know he isn’t. So I decided to take it upon myself to ask him, and tell him I give him a year to propose. I didn’t want to do it, but he sees no issue with keeping me as a girlfriend for the rest of his life. I feel like this generation doesn’t want to get married anymore. I’m 25, he’s 26. I know we’re generally young, but we’ve been together so long and I don’t want to reach 30 y/o and have to start over again with someone new. If he doesn’t want to marry me I’d rather end things while I’m still young and explore my options.
