Why can't I find somebody to date?

Question

I am 25 years old and I've never been in a relationship or even close to one.
I work in a female dominated field and my university campus was a bit isolated from the rest of the campus so I also didn't meet many guys.
I tend to be a bit shy at the beginning (I'm trying to work on that).
I went to a psychologist in the beginning of the year (because I was stressed about a big career decision I'll have to make in 15 days 😬😅) and we talked about this and she told me that I was smart and pretty so I was the problem. 😂
She told me to try dating apps and I did but I don't really feel any connection through texts and I also don't feel comfortable going out with someone I barely texted with.
Maybe I need to get out more? But it's not like I'll meet strangers just by being outside.
I already go to the gym and hangout with friends but rarely meet someone new.
I've been really focused on myself but meeting someone along the way didn't work all these years 😂 and now I really wish I had a partner that I loved and felt loved

Join clubs or classes. Sign up for local volunteer opportunities. Become a regular at a local coffee shop. You do have to get out there people don’t tend to fall into our laps unfortunately lol. Just think of things that interest you and look for community in that.

Unfortunately, you do have to leave your house to meet people. The only people coming to your house is Amazon or any kind of delivery service. Whether it’s religious affiliates, mixers, your local area, sometimes has groups on Facebook, painting, and sip classes, take a cooking class, take a painting class, check your local community college for noncredit classes, learn language, You already have the class in common so Professor so and so it was really hard on the last test, would you mind tutoring me, how did you do that kind of thing, poetry, readings, book signings, there’s 1 million places you can meet people. I once met somebody at a grocery store with a new lottery machine. He was showing me how it worked, and we struck up a conversation for about an hour Outside the store, it was nice out unfortunately at the time I was dating somebody already, and I told him that he still was persisted and hopes to have me change my mind and he gave me his number but I never called him. You can meet anyone anywhere you just need to be friendly and Step out of your comfort zone, the only thing that stands in the way of your happiness and you meeting someone is stepping outside of your comfort zone. Happiness is right outside of it. Overthinking that’s another one, over analyzing, just go with the flow and take a deep breath. Overthinking is like sitting in a rocking chair doesn’t get you anywhere, it steals your happiness, be present. Thinking about oh I should’ve done this I should’ve said that nope Don’t go there. It makes you spiral and it’s not healthy for your health, losing sleep, stomach issues, you name it. Go with the flow, take a deep breath, and take a leap of faith. Just because you meet someone doesn’t mean he’s the one, sometimes you gotta kiss a lot of frogs until you find a decent one. I’m 45 myself, I’m still dating. Online dating was never for me. I’d rather meet someone organically in real life. Sometimes a fixup from a friend, maybe you should meet a friend of mine type of situation, or maybe your friend siblings, or like I mentioned before places, you can meet people, Facebook usually has some kind of local groups for singles in your area have mixers or speed, dating, or aireoke night or some kind of event going on, bingo night, whatever it may be I don’t know where you live obviously. I had a few ￼ bad fixup one was by my pastor. Actually, no two was by him. Both were horrible people. And one was by a friend of mine and that was the mamas boy who my mommy pays for everything, the house is trashed, the drippy bottle of Lube on the bedside table, pizza boxes, everywhere, that was not a good one one of the ones my pastor fix me up with, he told me about a first date of his where the woman went to the bathroom and never came back at a restaurant, because he’s the most dull and boring person who has no common sense or filter, and can say the most offensive things on the planet to people.  when somebody says no offense, but you know it’s gonna be offensive. I dated a Doctor Who was a brother of a client of mine. And my current person is actually a client of mine. I’m doing his Asylum from Venezuela. I’ve known him for a little over a year but we just started dating about a month ago. He’s 35 and a nice guy, I’ve never dated a client in 20 years, but it was one of those. Why the hell why not. So far so good. But again, you’re never gonna meet someone if you don’t make the effort yourself. Joining activities, coffee, houses, library, whatever you’re interested is, you’re gonna have to leave the house to meet someone, have some confidence, confidence is sexy, sense of humor, but maybe you’re not ready to date, when you are ready to date is when you have healed from any trauma or bad experiences or past relationships that have lefty jilted in the past or with trust issues, etc., when you are healed, and a whole person that’s not looking for someone to fix them or heal them or complete them. You complete yourself, a man does not complete you. You don’t date because you’re lonely or feel alone or out of desperation or because you’re horny, you date because you are emotionally mentally and physically ready. And you look for people who are your equal, not somebody you need to mother or Fix or clean up after because they are irresponsible or can’t keep jobs etc.  I wish you the best of luck, and if you do need more therapy or medication then by all means, please reach out to get that.
