Problems with brother and sister in law

So my husband has a sister and brother They are wonderful and polite, but the only problem is it seems like they both always try to talk to me through my husband if that makes sense. For example today, I called his brother and sister to set up a birthday dinner and to see what times work best for them and everything since they are both busy and have kids. Both of them said they would let me know on the phone when they know their schedule. Then they both call my husband back a while later and let him know. I know it’s just a little thing, but if I’m talking to them directly, and not my husband, why not talk to me also? I understand that it’s their sibling, but it just makes me feel like an after thought and makes me feel like I’ll never really have a personal relationship with them. When my husband and I talk to his siblings, they always make eye contact him just him for the most part, I don’t understand because I try to make an effort to talk to them about how their life and everything is going Both of them are adults and have their own lives and everything, I would love to be closer to them but I just get the feeling they would only do it for my husbands benefit. I’m not mad, I just feel sad and lonely about it. My husband does not understand why it makes me sad. I don’t have a good relationship with my own siblings, so maybe they has a lot to do with it.
