Thanksgiving Dinner Menu

What is your family’s Thanksgiving dinner menu? Do you always make the same things every year or do you switch it up/add new dishes sometimes?

My family menu is tried and true classics, we never waver. Turkey, gravy, sausage and apple stuffing, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes with pecan crumble and mini marshmallows, green bean casserole, corn pudding, homemade cranberry sauce, buttermilk biscuits with cinnamon honey butter. And for dessert, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and apple pie.

I have lived in the Netherlands for about 5 years now and Thanksgiving is the holiday I miss most. I always make a dinner but it’s just for me and my husband (and now our two littles) so I’ve had to pare it down quite a bit. I don’t have the time (or the right size oven!) to make so many dishes just for us. But I do my best!

I love seeing what other families make though. I always tell myself maybe we’ll add something in to our traditional meal, but it’s never happened yet 😂

Last year we hosted a traditional menu. It was nice but stressful and expensive. This year we hosted and had butternut squash soup with hot ham and cheese sandwiches. I made a pumpkin pie, cranberry tart, and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

We do two Thanksgiving, due to in-law divorce years ago. The schedule has always stuck and is enjoyed! On Thursday, we go to my parents and have a traditional Thanksgiving. Turkey, gravy mashed potatoes, green beans, yams with marshmallows, biscuits, apple and pumpkin pie. On Friday, my in-laws do an Italian Thanksgiving with escarole soup, stuffed shells, baked clams, and desserts. I’m sure there’s foods in each I’m missing. But I like that we don’t have to do both families in one day, or pick which family to see.

Reservations this year at the casino. 26 per person. Totally worth it. And it’s comped.

Classic thanksgiving over here, it’s my fav holiday and I love the traditional foods - turkey, gravy, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, sausage stuffing, cranberry sauce, roasted veggies 🧡

My family does a traditional southern Thanksgiving meal every single year. Turkey, duck, deer, ham, rolls, green beans with bacon, baked beans, homemade mashed potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, patato salad, brown gravy, homemade dressing, sweet potatoes (homemade roasted candied sweet potatoes with brown sugar topped with marshmallow fluff), candied carrots, homemade pies (cherry, apple, pumpkin, buttermilk, pecan), chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookies, coffee, southern SWEET iced tea, homemade rich hot chocolate, and apple cider. My husband's grandmother on his dad's side makes a Thanksgiving meal that I barely eat (his family doesn't make good food) and usually has weird dishes with it. My MILs siblings, their spouces, their kids, and ALL of the grandkids have a Thanksgiving as well. It's a potluck style meal where people bring random items. I much prefer my family's Thanksgiving to any of the Thanksgivings on my husband's side of the family.

It truely is! Everyone pitches in, we all know the same recipes, and brings dishes. I've become the designated sweet potatoe maker which is just as important at the turkey and duck in our family. Everyone makes enough to go home with enough leftovers for a few days of Thanksgiving sandwhiches (rolls, meat, dressing, mashed potatoes, and gravy). We pretty much eat the same meal at Chrismas, but with a TON of different types of cookies and cheesecake as well.

Our family loves getting together, and we love food, lol. Thanksgiving is one of the bigger gatherings of the year. Turkey, ham, mashed and cheesy potatoes, stuffing, Mac and cheese, green bean casserole, rolls, appetizers, a table dedicated to desserts, etc. We go all out and nobody ever leaves hungry.

Our menu is pretty much the same every year. I always love Thanksgiving. The only thing that is changing this year is instead of green bean casserole we will be have slow cooked green beans. We will have 2 smoked turkeys, ham, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, sweet potato casserole, hot corn casserole, green beans, broccoli and cheese, mac and cheese, cheese dip with taco meat, rolls and deviled eggs. For dessert there will be pecan pie, pumpkin pie, buttermilk pie, chocolate pie, brownies and ooey gooey cake.
