Can nipple piercings cause breast lumps?

Hi everyone!

So I got my nipples pierced around a month ago. So far the healing process has been great, no infections or pain. However, a few days after the piercing, I found a small, hard lump in the breast tissue below my left nipple. It doesn’t hurt at all, is about the size of a blueberry, and can slightly be moved. I read that piercings can cause abscesses, but it’s not painful and is further beneath the skin so I don’t think that’s what this is. I’m looking into making an appointment for a mammogram, but am curious if this is something caused by the piercing or completely coincidental?
