Am I wrong for being upset?

My husband is a construction worker, he builds houses for a living. We currently live in an apartment but have been saving for a house. Yesterday he sat me down for a discussion and he said he wants to build me my dream home. He asked me to write down my vision, what I’m looking for in our forever home, etc. He said he wants to make my dreams a reality and he’s been looking at plots of land that we could purchase. (We do have the money for this. We’ve saved up a significant amount of money). I laughed at him and told him that’s ridiculous. I don’t want him to build me a house, I want to buy one that’s already made. He got deeply hurt and said he understands, but then he went to bed early and we haven’t really talked much since. Was I wrong?
