Would you be offended if someone told you ‘you look good but it’s obvious you just had a baby’ 3 months postpartum?

I was with my mom in town 3 months postpartum and I was wearing leggings and a long sleeve shirt. Out of nowhere she said I looked so great, but it was ‘obvious that I just had a baby’ (3 months ago). I was 130 pounds pre-pregnancy and had my baby at 160 pounds, then was about 140 pounds when she said this. I don’t even know what that could mean?

That kind of comment, out of the blue, from my mother, I would be hurt and angry. I would be hurt because, just like you mentioned, you have no way of interpreting what she means. Of course you look like you just gave birth, YOU JUST GAVE BIRTH. So, why state the obvious? I have no way to help you decipher what she meant, but I can tell you I would have felt bad in your shoes.

My MILs first words to me when she came to the hospital to meet her grandson (literally one week ago today 🙃) we’re “Oh wow! You still look pregnant! You’re sure there isn’t another one still in there?”
