no epidural with induction?

i’m getting induced on friday (i will be 40w5d) and i planned to not have an epidural when i thought i would be going into labor on my own. now that im going to have to be induced, im worried that i wont be able to handle the pain without an epidural. 
if you were induced, did you get an epidural? what was your experience either way?

Unpopular opinion, but don’t put yourself through unbearable pain if you don’t have to. There’s no award for giving birth unmedicated, there’s no right answer or handbook to pregnancy, labor & delivery, or parenting. Do what you need to do for YOU.

I was induced with all 3 babies & no way I could’ve done it without an epidural. However, I wasn’t as far along as you & my babies probably weren’t ready to come, so each induction took pretty long. I needed the epidural to be able to sleep & rest otherwise I wouldn’t have had to energy to push when the time came.

I was induced with my first and wasn’t planning on an epidural but the pitocin was so strong I got it. 
I waited as long as possible to get the epidural though to I wouldn’t feel it go into my back. 
Best choice ever. And I got an epidural with my second and plan on getting one with my third.

I was induced twice. The first time 8 years ago I went into active labor and wanted the epidural but had my son an hour later and didn’t need the epidural. Only felt contractions for 1 hour.
I gave birth last week to my second child and was induced, the labor pains felt the same before the induction and after my water broke. I was in labor for 10 hours, including the 1 hour after my water broke, I was wondering when the contractions were gonna get worse lol although it was already painful, once my water broke my mother asked if I wanted the epidural bcuz she could see how much pain I was in and I declined. I honestly didn’t know what stage in labor I should’ve asked for the epidural, if that makes sense. Technically I wanted it but fought harder to avoid it bcuz I didn’t want the needle in my back. The birth was definitely exhausting and probably would’ve been easier with epidural. So my advice to you is, in that moment choose what will feel easier and comfortable for you.

I’ve had 3 without any epidural. My last was induced and I was so scared bc everyone says how bad pitocin contractions are and it’s going to be so painful, but honestly it was not any worse than my other 2. I just keep breathing and tell myself I can do anything for a minute and then I’ll get it break. Each contraction is bringing me closer to meeting my baby. My body is made for this. Women have been doing this for centuries. Recovery after was so easy for me, and I had 3rd degree tears with my first two, second degree with my second. It’s great being able to be up walking around right after. I’m very glad I didn’t get an epidural, but everyone is different and has different pain tolerances. Just go in with a plan but expect to be flexible with it

I didn’t get induced- but my water broke with no progress and I had to be put on pitocin. I did it without an epidural and intense back labor because my girl was sunny side up. She also got stuck so there was some stuff that happened there too. 
It was extremely painful- but so worth it and I couldn’t believe how capable my body was. Recovery was a BREEZE.

I planned to not get an epidural, the ended up getting induced at about 7 cm because the pain was bad. But we ended up having to turn the epidural off because it tanked my blood pressure so I gave birth without it anyway. It was awful but it was nice to know when the contractions were happening and I think that contributed to me not tearing at all

I got Induced with my last two babies (will with this baby in 3 weeks too) with no epidural. 
The pain is definitely a 10/10 but it’s all a mental thing to me. If you have any doubt going in, you’ll give in to the epidural. 
Also, go in with a birth plan. On that plan put that you don’t want the nurses offering the epidural. If they are dangling it in your face, also a higher chance you’ll give in.
The pitocin makes contractions come harder. But it also speeds up the labor. Learn how to breathe through your contractions. I personally count in my head cause I know I can’t count forever (aka they won’t last forever) 
People look at me crazy when I say I don’t get the epidural cause if you see me, I’m tiny lol. 120lbs at 35 weeks pregnant 🤣 so you can definitely do it!
