I have to hide the truth to protect him

I just need to vent and maybe get advice from those that have done couples counseling. He wants us to get it because we just can’t communicate with eachither . We have a daughter and are attempting to make it work since he’s “ changed “ he has stopped doing drugs . He wants me to leave the domestic abuse part of it out and the drug’s out of it because now he’s a different person as of a month now half ago. & I’m not sure how I feel about going through with this if I can’t just be honest . Because all the trauma & problems stemmed from who he was in his past as he calls it .
