How/when did your waters break?

My waters broke on the toilet after blowing my nose with my first kid hours before any contractions even started, and when they did start it was a lot of pressure and pain down my thighs and lower back. I know a lot of people get contractions before their waters break and wondering if the contractions that happen when your waters are still intact are less intense or much the same. Anyone experienced both ways that can compare the two?

My water didn’t break on its own. I was 30 or so hours into labour/contractions and the doctor asked if they could break my water to speed things up and of course I said yes. Long labour!

My waters never broke on their own besides my miscarriage but in my experience contractions are a piece of cake until those waters break

I'd say that the contractions are more intense after your water breaks. My first started with my water breaking. With my second it didn't break until I was pushing.

With my first I had contractions first & my water didn’t break until later in the hospital. With my second, my water broke first as I was getting ready to go to bed one night & contractions started shortly after. My contractions were worse the second time when my water had already broken. The came on quicker & stronger.
