Being on the pill for too long?

Is there such thing as being on the pill for too long? I’ve been on Camrese (combination pill that gets rid of my periods) for nearly five years and I’m afraid of what the long term effects are. That and blood clots. Those are my worst fear.

Some women are on birth control from the time they’re teens to 40+ years old. 
You’re altering the way your body naturally produces hormones. Many women don’t have any issues after getting off birth control, but some do. 
Personally, I just used condoms when I became sexually active. I got on birth control after my first was born and I’ve had two IUD’s (mirena and copper) and now I’m on the mini pill. Before getting on birth control my periods were very regular. My periods stopped for the year and a half I was on Mirena. I developed hypothyroidism and my endocrinologist believes the iud had a part in that. There was a lawsuit against Mirena for it at one point and there’s tons of threads on Reddit full of women who developed thyroid disease after getting the Mirena. The copper iud made me bloat like crazy despite being hormone free. Now I bleed for months at a time with 6-10 days between “periods.” I hate birth control and my husband will be getting a vasectomy as soon as we are done having kids.
