Pcos?
Okay, so I think I might have Pcos. I am 18 years old and have always struggled with weight, back in 2020 I gained around 50 pounds, going from 150lbs to 200lbs. I have tried to lose it for years, and being honest I’ve had trouble sticking to any sort of weight loss routine because I don’t see any results. I spent the entirety of last summer biking and eating healthier and it made no difference.
I have really irregular periods, sometimes I wont get it for months at a time and when I do its typically around a week but sometimes longer. I didn’t know it was a symptom of pcos, but I also noticed excess hair growth a few years ago, specifically on my stomach.
Anyways, the last time I went to the doctor was years ago and my doctor blatantly told me I was fat and embarrassed me, ever since I’ve honestly just avoided it. Definitely not the best decision but at this point it just slips my mind.
I realize I should go see a doctor in general, but I wanted to know who I need to talk to about pcos, do I need to talk to a gynaecologist or do I go through my doctor?
