Cervix check???

Has anyone ever had their cervix checked for dilation and effacement prior to 35/36 weeks? I’m almost 33 weeks this is technically my 5th pregnancy however I’ve had two miscarriages. I’ve been feeling a lot of pressure lately and experiencing more and more Braxton hicks however not consistent. I’ve been thinking about asking my Dr. to check me at my next appointment however idk if I’m just paranoid. I also want to mention he is really low and has been my whole pregnancy he is also still moving about the same amount he hasn’t really slowed down.

Nothing wrong with asking your ob to check if you feel the need. They probably wouldnt do it normally. They usually start checks at 36-38 weeks or so depending on the doctor but yeah youre free to ask.

I had my dr check me around 35 weeks with my youngest. I had so much pressure and felt like he was falling out. He was also my 3rd planned csection. Turns out his head was a +3 station and I was like 70% effaced. When I did have my C-section at 38 weeks, he came out bruised on the left side of his face and hand because he was stuck in the birth canal so long. It was not fun.

Don’t forget that you also have the option to chat through these concerns with your dr and ask if a check would provide any insight. They can possibly help you make an informed decision if you make sure to dig in and ask a lot of questions.

Checks shouldn't happen until you are full term, which is technically 39 weeks although some do start at 38 weeks.checks might tell you dilation but dilation tells you nothing about when you will go into labour. It also is technically an early intervention and can lead to infection. Please know the risks, especially requesting something so early

Also my last full term pregnancy was over 8 years ago and my most recent miscarriage was the end of June beginning of July.
