When did you start potty training?

Which potty training thing did you use, at what age? And are there any tips? FTM here to a boy. 👦🏻

I tried with my son starting at age 2 and it did not go well. So I would try again every few months but I could see he just wasn’t getting it. No pressure, no scolding- it wasn’t a big deal. 
His best friend was a year older and already potty trained and I could see my son’s interest in it so one day I just told him that he gets to go in the potty now. 
We stuck him in underwear and within a couple of days he was totally pee trained. It just clicked for him and he was so proud of himself. It took a couple more weeks of #2 accidents for him to learn what it feels like when he needs to go to the potty for that. 
My biggest piece of advice is make it a no pressure environment and absolutely no scolding! It’s okay if they don’t get it right away. They have to learn what their body feels like when they have to pee/poop- what it feels like when they have to hold it to make it to the potty. It’s a learning process for them. Expect accidents. And look for their cues to see if they are ready. If they aren’t ready, it won’t work.

We started with our son at 3 but didn't get serious until 3.5 and he potty trained quick! (At 3 we introduced the potty but he wasn't interested which is why we didn't get serious until 3.5) we did a calendar with stickers for when he used the potty and we always did a potty treat (we used mini marshmallows so he wasn't getting an insane amount of sugar, he'd only get a couple each time he tried/went) and the first time he pooped we took him to the store to pick out a Hotwheel. With our daughter we did everything the same except at 3 she was ready and interested so we got right to it! With #3 I plan to introduce the potty at 3 like we did with the others but with his personality I'm fully expecting him to not be ready until 3.5

We give our kids a potty about 2 and read books about the potty and will ask if they wanna try. My oldest tried off and on for awhile amd.just didnt care then one day said she was ready and has never had an accident since that day. She decided she was done with diapers put on panties and that was that. She was not quite 3. My 2nd 2.5 right now and.doing the some days he uses the potty some he doesnt but we dont pressure him and know he will do it when he is ready. To me letting them decide when they wanna start doing something that big and constant with their body instead of me fighting it is the better option. Its worked for us so far and was way less stressful. My oldest is now 5 and has never had an accident of any sort day or night. My sister made her kids sit on the potty every 30 mins to try and potty until they got it. Took weeks and was very stressful but worked in the end. There are many ways to do it so just find what works for your family

All our kiddos have been in the bathroom with me. Husband works and it's not always an option to leave small children alone or to even pee with the door closed. So from very early on they are introduced to the bathroom. This is the toilet, this is toilet paper, this is where we poop/pee, this is how we wipe, this is how we wash our hands, the basics. They know what the bathroom is for. We let our oldest (6) lead. Never did the every 15 mins we're going to sit on the potty. Never did the naked for 3 days. Just as she asked to sit on the potty, we took her in. If she didn't go, no big deal. If she did go we'd dance and cheer and high five (never did a reward for going, just a celebration type thing. Made it a big deal.) She was 3 when her brother was born and she regressed a little. She verbally stated she wanted to wear diapers like brother (she was in pull ups.) Which we figured she'd regress with new baby in the house. But a few days later she just up and started going to the bathroom. On her own. Like she had been doing it all her life. Never had any accidents. Not even at night. There were no fights, tears, or frustration. She just did it. Our middle kiddo is 2 1/2 so we're letting him lead. It worked out well enough with our oldest. Not going to fix what isn't broken. Youngest is only 6 months so we got time for him. (we do homeschool so we didn't have a time limit on making this happen. Like she has to be potty trained for daycare or preschool.)

My son didnt potty train until 3 1/2. We tried before 3 and around 3 but he  showed no interest and wanted me to put a pull up on him. It wasn't until his younger cousin started to potty train that he showed an interest. He skipped the small pottys and had the little toilet seat to go on the bigger potty. He only used it for about a couple of weeks before just wanting to sit straight on the potty. He actually had no accidents(pee or poop) since he started potty training. He is my third and although my other 2 potty trained before 3, he is the only one who has not had any accidents while potty training. My best advice to wait until they show an interest or show signs that they are ready. It'll really make it much easier in the end. Good luck! :)

Tried multipe times before 3 with my first 2 and it never took, once they hit 3 it was great no accidents or anything for both my son and daughter

Started around 2 with just setting him on the potty or child toilet seat. Active training at 2,5 -diaper free within the week. My youngest started potty training himself at 1,5, diaper free when he was 2,5.
