Red skin ? GRAPHIC PHOTO !!!

Question

Hey all i have a tabby that’s been scratching at his neck for a few days . We’ve already got an appointment scheduled but this is my 
cats neck right now . This is the second time that it’s happened , the first time we were able to move past it but now it’s getting worse . Any idea of what it could be ?
@leslie - there’s always been a little pet corner to post our furbabies . Honestly i freaked when i saw this for a second year in a row .

Hey I had a cat with a very similar issue the vet at the time diagnosed it as a skin allergy and it was quite expensive to find out what the specific allergy was at the time. I was also advised by another vet (i saw multiple to fix the issue) that it would need to fully heal before the scratching goes away!! Hope your fur baby is okay and that you can get to the bottom of it

It looks like you kitty could have a skin allergy. My best friend’s dog gets skin allergies all over her face. It got pretty bad this last time it happened. Almost (not quite) looked like what your cat has. Hope this helps.

My cat does the same behind his ear every other month it heals on its own.

One of my cats developed this after I applied a tick treatment. I bought a spray from the pet store (called MicrocynAH- cat wound & skin care) and a cone because she would over groom it and cause more bleeding. She hated the spray but it helped. 
However, the next year she developed it again but in a different part of her neck (and I haven’t put any tick treatment on her since the first reaction). I did the same thing- spray and cone- and it healed quicker this time because I caught it early thankfully. 
She may have an allergy or sensitive skin. I haven’t been able to figure out what’s causing it for my kitty yet.
