9:00 pm on Saturday I started feeling Braxton hick contractions and thought since they were coming consistent I should pay attention and time them. That hour went by and it continued and so I called the OB on call and advised her of the pattern. She mention she wasn’t too concerned but if I wanted to come in and get a check I could. My husband and I decided it was best to go right away because they didn’t want us having any contractions due to the extent of my last c-section.

We arrived to triage and that’s when things got real fast. I was having real painful contractions and two days prior that had concerns of a window in my uterus (which there was). They gave me medication to stop the contractions as well as magnesium to help in prevent brain bleeds and a steroid shot for their lungs—all through out the night and for a short while it worked but once 3:00am hit the contractions that we had got to stop turned into 6-7 min apart contractions— my MFM team did have to inform me that if they continued on to be 5mins or less apart they would proceed with a cesarean. And that was the case unfortunately. From then on out they started to prep me for my surgery and they rolled me in at 10am delivered baby A at 11:07 and baby B at 11:08. The surgery did take a very long time, we were in there from 10am- 4:30pm. Obviously, raising concerns in my husband as they had him step out after babies were born and when we all established that was uterus was no longer salvageable. Thankfully, I had an amazing team that knew what happen last time when I ruptured (and repaired my uterus) and then the same amazing duo that assisted in saving my life again.

In conclusion, the babies are doing very well baby A came out breathing on his, but did receive a small oxygen tube on the outside to assist. Baby A has received a intubation of an oxygen tube in which that should stay in until she is 32 weeks. I have not been able to touch or see them in person yet, but we have high hopes I will be able to go and visit them as much as I want from here on out.

Back story— ruptured in February 2023 with my daughter (who unfortunately did not make it) fell pregnant 6 months later with twins. It was an attempt to have a home birth after 4 c-sections.
