Am i being sensitive?
So a little background information: I’m in my 20s and i decided to go back to school. So now I’m in nursing school and it’s an accelerated nursing program. My class is few weeks but very fast pace and lots of content… i also work two jobs (1 is my main job that relates to nursing) (the 2nd job is just a little part time job at a gym)
The two classes I’m in right now are hard and very time consuming. So i asked both of my jobs if i can cut back on hours. The main job is understanding and supportive of my decision bc they understand it’s hard and lot of work. My 2nd job (the gym job) wasn’t as understanding.
My manager been making comments and being passive aggressive in my opinion. I told my manager how i want to take these weeks off to focus on my classes and how alot of people didn’t pass it before me…. He downplays nursing school and acts like it’s not hard, he thinks I’m quitting when i told him i wasn’t. I told him i cut back on my main job but I’m still working more hours there because they pay my bills.
Anyways my coworkers at the gym been chatting and gossiping about it. I don’t care about that. However, today my coworker told me I’m just being lazy and don’t want to work and that the manager should just fire me……..
it kind of hurt my feelings because in my opinion i work 2 jobs and go to school full time and pay for my own schooling….
My non gym friends told me i should quit and go to another gym.. i like the gym bc most of my friends go there but I’m debating if i should quit or if I’m being sensitive about it. Some guys told me i was being sensitive and i can see that bc i am a sensitive person. They said my coworker was prob trying to be funny and didn’t come off being funny…. But why would someone make a joke about you being lazy and don’t wanna work.
The funny thing is the past two months i picked up extra shifts at the gym to cover the coworker who called me lazy…… when i brought that up to my manger about how i pulled extra shifts to help him out so that way he didn’t have to find someone to cover. He acted like i didn’t work any extra shift and kept saying things like “are you sure about that” “if you were helping us out you wouldn’t be taking all these weeks off”
