Does anyone else have iron deficient anemia?

How are you handling it? I have to call my doctor back tomorrow they left a message today and I didn’t see it until too late. My levels are pretty low explaining a lot of symptoms. My problem is my prenatal that I’ve been taking already had the full daily dose of iron recommended in it!

Sometimes it’s not enough from prenatal for the growing baby so they should increase the iron dose.  My midwife noticed my levels dropping little bit so I was prescribed before it’s late

I was anemic last pregnancy and I had the symptom of craving ice. It was the craziest thing, and really hard to explain unless you experience it. After birth it cleared up.

I've been anemic since my teen years and it's worse when I'm pregnant 🫤 my iron is the lowest it's ever been - at 28.1 - and I'm now REQUIRED to take a supplement. I'm 26+3.

I had to take iron suppliments with my oldest and middle children. With my oldest I ended up on prescription iron suppliments towards the end and almost needed shots and a transfusion. A large part of that was due to HG. I also ended up with low iron with my 3rd child, but diet helped a lot. A large reason for me being anemic quite often, even outside of pregnancy is due to not eating red meat or fish. I also don't like dark leafy greens, but force myself to eat them when I start feeling the effects of low iron.

I had it with both my babies.. and with my first i had to have an infusion.. i just hated the dizzyness and non stop headaches.. on top of a new baby but it does get better with prescribed iron tablets.

They will have you take an additional OTC iron supplement. Hope you feel better soon!
