Does sweeping membranes cause bloody show?

I had my membranes swept yesterday. I was 3 cm dilated. Last night I had painful contractions every 7 minutes that stopped after 2 hours. I’ve had contractions come and go today. 
I just used the bathroom and after I wiped I had a good bit of bloody show. It was like the mucus plug but with blood. I’m not concerned at all. I just wonder if it’s from the membrane sweep or if labor is about to start?!

With a membrane sweep, they are putting their fingers through your cervix and trying to separate the amniotic sac from that area. It will disrupt whatever mucous is there and the contractions will make it come out. 
Not an indication of labor in itself but labor could still be near

I had my sweep in afternoon following day maybe around lunchtime had my show then that evening gave birth. When I have my show both times babies were born not long after

When my dr did my membrane sweep, (tmi) i lost my bloody show when she was done, it was all over her hand but at the time we just thought it was normal bleeding. We realized it was my bloody show when i went into labor early the next morning.
