EPIDURAL— what is your plan?

With my previous 2 labors I had an epidural both times. The first time it worked perfectly! The second time…was a nightmare that I’m not going to go into detail about because I don’t want to fearmonger with my uncommon situation. This time I really want to try to go without it but I’m scared! What’s your plan?

Hypnobirth girl. Seriously. Its a 360 difference in pain tolerance! All I did was go to sleep listening to hypnobirthing meditations. By the time labour rolled around like 10wks later at the due date… I was in shock with how calm and zen like state my body was in.
No pain. At all. Water broke. No pain. I was like wtf is this?!! All that work on my mind leading up my fear was gone and my subconscious took over that part. I went with my body and if you dont fight it your pain will be so minimal and bareable. Even the crowning and pushing part was so easy. It did hurt a little of course but my body did the work and the baby just came out with hardly any pain. I know to many hypnobirthing is all woowoo but once you hv done it, you wont ever go bk. Fear is the no1 cause of childbirth pain I think.

This will be my fourth, I’ve never had an epidural. Honestly with my first I was more scared of the needle in my back than I was of the labor pain 😆 and after the first the second and third were easier. So my plan is to go epidural free for this one too

I had it with my first two, and vowed to never do it again for the after effects of it all. They have to give you a catheter and it’s bruised my urethra every time making that whole area sore for weeks. Not to mention the back pain that never went away. Went natural with my third, was so intense but there is just a feeling of pride in knowing your strength and abilities being able to go through it all. Also being able to feel everything makes you so much more in tune with your body, you can move around and you’re not stuck to the bed, and the relief and joy is greater when it’s done. Also recovery was immediate, I was able to move and do everything as soon as it was over. Will be going natural again this last time. Not downplaying the pain by any means but there are methods to help with that, and I just find it much more gratifying.

I had fentanyl in my IV and I slept through all my contractions, didn’t feel anything until baby’s shoulders were coming out! 10/10 I’m doing it again for this next baby!

I didnt vote. K have had 2 emergency csections. My first I labored naturally for over 20 hrs. The 2nd the pain was INSANE right from the start, so wven though id planned a natural vbac. By the time we got to the hospital and and found I hadnt dialated yet (the pain was way beyond what my first long labor was) i fept something was wrong, got the epidural and just after started bleeding because of the placenta detaching. Had i not had that epidural in our emergency csection that tike was so urgent they would have had to put me all the way out. Planned csection this time, not safe to try labor again, or atleast too high of risk. Ill cope... not having that feeling going into surgery where my babies heart beat was gone and my blood pressure tanking and going into surgery too fast to have my husband with...itll be the best choice this time. But i still feel grief at time over not having been able to experience a natural or vaginal birth. This is definitely our last baby.

I did all natural the first time around and i swore to hubby while in labor ill never have another onr again from the pain🤣 but here i am 21 weeks preggies tomorrow and will try to do it all over again.
Went into labor around 1am with my boy and had him 7:55am (total of 8 hours in labour)
And he came at 38 weeks 5 days was suppose to be an october baby and now im due again with an October baby. I have herd lots of the ladies talking about the hypno so im definitely curious and want to look into that.

My eldest I had pethidine which was fine.. just felt out of it.. my second I was too late for any pain meds and had a small amount of gas and air and I'm so scared now that I want to get an epidural this time!
