Should I ask for gas money?

Hi,

I recently went on a date with a guy. We had fun, etc. He volunteered to pay my gas the day prior if I came that specific day. I told him I couldn’t make it for that day bc of work, so the other day I went in which we had our date.

He is a little over an hour from my home, with a total commute of two hours as I went to his town for the date.

With that being said, should I ask for the gas money in which he volunteered from the day prior? I do have my own money btw. I’m not a leech.

It’s not a big deal if I get it or not, but I do just want to see if he is a man of his word.
