Steroid shots for baby’s lungs at 26 weeks

Kayla

Last night I received the second shot in the steroid series for our baby’s lungs. Today I turned 26 weeks. I presented to L&D two days ago feeling unwell, nausea with vomiting, and hot. BP was 198/87 at intake and 177/91 30 mins after. Following IV meds and more by mouth I was sent home 5 hours later with instructions to come in immediately if I felt off again. Yesterday my intake was 166/91 while on meds and was let go after additional dose of Bp meds two hours later. I also have recorded contractions that a regular every three minutes but are luckily not causing cervix changes rn.

My OBs are concerned and have informed me I could end up admitted at a different hospital with a higher NICU level. I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something like this? Should I be ready to be transferred over an hour away to the nearest high level NICU? I have other kids and my husband works full time, I am trying to take it as easy as possible like they want me to but I just have a gut feeling (that I hope is wrong) that bc of this they might recommend the admission. Especially since it seems the second the meds start working their way out of my system my Bp starts to run up.

I’m just scared and nervous right now and I’m trying to not over think it all.
