My husband and I received the devastating news two weeks ago that my current pregnancy has a genetic issue due to a microdeletion of a chromosome.

The potential effects range from mild to severe intellectual disability, delayed development, delayed speech, and seizures. We tried for so long to get pregnant so this pregnancy was very much wanted however we have another daughter (2 years old) that I have to think about. I can’t stop thinking about the stress this is going to put on the whole family, especially my daughter who may have to take care of this child later in life when we’re gone.

I never thought I’d consider termination but I just can’t stop crying and thinking about how much I fear the future and what caring for a disabled child is going to do to my family.
