My bf wants to start vaping to stop chewing tobacco

My bf chews tobacco (dips) plus he drinks everyday. He knows I have a problem with his drinking. He says he’s going to start working on it and slow down but I’m hoping he stops all together in the future. I know he can’t stop cold turkey. He has slowed down quite a bit tbh. I’ve been praying that God puts it into his heart to really get clean and sober. I found a vape in his stuff and he said he wants to start using it to help with stop dipping. And I don’t think that’s a good idea.. I feel like that’s replacing one addiction with another but he doesn’t agree and says I don’t get it… we don’t smoke cigarettes and or vape. I don’t think he’s started vaping yet. idk how I feel about him doing that. I hear bad stuff and it worries me. I know I can’t control what he does but I’m hoping he makes a better decision..
